Your Consultants Day! „IT meets medical engineering LIVE“ 17.09.2009 in Berlin – The Success Story

On September 17th, 2009 the Consultants Day "IT meets medical engineering LIVE" has taken place in the andels‘ hotel in Berlin. It was the meeting place for hospital consultants from the areas of IT and medical engineering, manufacturer of medical devices and software as well as in these divisions specialised speakers, who converged to experience the company concept of the MEDNOVO Medical Software Solutions GmbH „Your Consultant Day! IT meets medical engineering LIVE ".

Since her foundation in 2002, the MEDNOVO GmbH, based in Berlin, has, next to the structured medical documentation, successively focused it’s main business on the topic of IT and medical engineering. The company realised, that hospitals and consultants are facing the same problem over and over again: The integration of IT and medical engineering as numerous individual solutions instead of an overall plan.

MEDNOVO has developed a concept, in whose course the speakers commented on the topic "IT meets medical engineering" from different point of views. The partner KARL STORZ, Schiller Medizintechnik, VISUS, CORTEX Software and Alpine Biomed presented their companies not only as an exhibitor.

The speciality of this concept built the LIVE demonstration, in which a complete communication scenario for hospitals was reconstructed. It was presented LIVE, how a communication between IT and medical engineering can be achieved as a complete system by interposing MEDNOVO’s documentation system MediColor as a gateway. Various medical devices inclusive HIS and PACS connection of the partners were attached to it and therefore were able to communicate with each other.

The procedure covered the demonstration of the order construction in the HIS, the communication between HIS and MediColor and the data transfer to the respective medical device. Ongoing, if desired, the examination images and video data are forwarded to the PACS. Examination and results data can be transmitted back to the HIS. By touch of a button, all transmitted data to a specific patient case can be inspected now.

The evening event "Get Together on the rooftops of Berlin" has topped the event off.

The evaluation of the Consultant Day demonstrates clearly, that MEDNOVO has captured a zeitgeisty topic. The attendance statistics show with 100%, that "IT meets medical engineering" will be the topic of the next years. 88% have received a good and narrowed overview of the integration possibilities of IT and medical engineering, 94% would participate again.

The decision is taken already, that the Consultants Day will continue in September 2010. Furthermore, a Roadshow in spring 2010 through Germany, Austria and Switzerland with an analogous concept is provided for the target group of users in hospitals and rehabilitation clinics.
