Decision-makers voted MEDNOVO’s project proposal IT key topic 2011

This year’s five IT key topics of hospital management were determined at the Entscheiderevent on February 09, 2011. Out of 13 registered projects MEDNOVO’s topic “fever chart meets HIS” ranked number 3.

The focus of this year’s topic is the integration of the fever chart into the existing IT environment. The processes of daily measurements, evaluations and documentations of patients’ vital signs ought to be analysed and optimised. The aim is to receive these vital signs and values and to provide them to all parties and information systems involved, e.g. the ward round, for further processing.

In order to develop an appropriate “all-round device” that is able to send vital signs wireless, MEDNOVO joined forces with partners from the area of medical engineering and will be responsible for the realisation of this interface and the transfer to the HIS.

The project “fever chart meets HIS” aims at comparing manual and automatic recording of vital signs at two reference wards of the university clinic of Schleswig Holstein.

With these process times recorded an evaluation matrix will then be created providing precise information about possible saving potential.

First results will be presented during the so-called “Summer Camp” of the Entscheiderfabrik in June this year.
