Information day “IT meets medical engineering“ in Essen – MEDNOVO and partners would like to say thank you for an informative and successful event

On May 17, 2011 users from the medical engineering, IT and medicine sector and industry partners met for the second time already in order to exchange information on existing and on future challenges concerning ”IT meets medical engineering“.

 This year, our very successful event “moved“ to North Rhine-Westphalia. The companies VISUS, Schiller Medizintechnik, KARL STORZ, DFC Systems, Optimal Systems and MEDNOVO therefore invited their guests to the Atlantic Congress Hotel in Essen. The agenda included an extensive series of presentations and a LIVE demonstration.

The speakers of this day gave presentations on topics like process optimisation, the integration of medical devices into existing IT environments and the effects of legal requirements on clinics and industry regarding MPG and IEC 90001.

When it came to realising projects according to current requirements, all presentations and discussions agreed on the fact that close cooperation between all parties involved on both sides, clinics and industry, is fairly important. Another important point of discussion was the introduction of new technologies to the workflow. How will smartphones, tablet PCs, webbased applications, etc. have an effect on the clinics’ daily routine?

The second part of the event was a LIVE demonstration showing how different medical devices can be integrated into the IT environment and which possibilities are offered by the structured findings documentation. Voice recognition was just as much a topic as was the provision of all medical information across different systems. It was presented how images, videos, measured data as well as findings can be shared with other systems, e.g. HIS, PACS or DMS.

Each industrial partner participated in the LIVE demonstration with great commitment. All participants were convinced of the high quality of the overall concept.
